Success for JRI's first case using ICOS Innovative Custom Orthopaedic Solutions
The first case using our new ICOS Innovative Custom Orthopaedic Solutions was successfully implanted by Mr David Thyagarajan and his fantastic team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Combining the Surgeon's and Engineer's expertise we designed the best possible solution including implant, cutting guides and a patient specific surgical technique. The goal is to simplify the operation for the Surgeon and to provide the ideal solution to their patient.
Mr David Thyagarajan shared his reflections of the case.
‘Glenoid bone loss in this patient was so severe that conventional reconstruction using allograft was not possible. Using the JRI-ICOS system, we designed a custom glenoid component with patient specific instrumentation. The entire JRI team was brilliant in ensuring a smooth and efficient pathway to successful implantation of this custom glenoid component in a complex revision reverse shoulder replacement.'
